Don Demers was born in 1956 in Lunenburg, Mass. and his interest in maritime painting began while spending summers on the Maine coast. He was educated at the School of the Worcester Art Museum and Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. He began as an illustrator and expanded into Marine painting. His work expanded over the years ranging from American Airlines to the National Park Service with projects creating art for national television ads.
Don is a Fellow of the American Society of Marine Artists, won a record number of awards at the Mystic International Marine exhibition and at the Laguna Plein Air Invitational. He conducts workshops for artists and lectures on both his art and maritime experiences. He is widely recognized by Museums, Art clubs, Yacht clubs and educational institutions, including the Museum of American Illustration and National Geographic Magazine.
