Janet Treby was born in 1955 in the small town of Bedfordshire, England. At the age of 11 she was determined to become an artist. She embarked on a two year foundation course at Barnfield College after leaving high school, followed by a degree at West Surrey College of Art and Design specializing in printmaking and sculpture.
After learning many skills Janet went on to The Slade School of Fine Art and specialized in printmaking. She soon learned how hard it was to earn a living in that field and decided to concentrate on her love of painting in oils. He work is figurative, specializing in the female figure, and creates an intimate mood using color and an ethereal feeling. She likes the images to be left open with a sensual description of the human female form so that the viewer can put their own interpretation on things.
