Walter Lansil (Amer. 1846-1925)

Walter Lansil was born in Maine in 1846 and was a marine painter, often in Venetian and Dutch settings. He studied in Paris at the Academie Julian.

A long-time resident of Boston, he exhibited at the Boston Art Club and became a member in 1877.  He also showed at the National Academy of Design, New York City, and te Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.  His work is also featured in the collection of the McMullen Museum of Fine Art at Boston College.
