Zhen-Huan Lu was born in Shanghai in 1950 and obtained his degree from the Shanghai Theater Academy’s Dept. of Scenic Design. He was invited to New York in 1986 for his first solo exhibition which was very successful, and then relocated to the USA. His schooling in China was akin to a 19th century European style academic curriculum. This allowed him to develop a quintessentially American style
Among Zhen’s honors – he was chosen as the official artist for the White House’s 2002 Christmas card by First Lady Laura Bush. His paintings were made part of the permanent collection. He is also featured in the China National Art Museum.
